I'm thinking of some new irons. I'm just not sure my X18 pros are going to work for me. I love the mid irons sometimes, and granted, I haven't hit them enough, but I am not sure I can adjust to them.
I am looking for opinions on what Mizuno iron I should try, but would consider others as well.
My old irons are MP 29's, and I firmly believe they are the best ever.......if I played more and practiced at all. I used them from 94(?) until I quit in 99. Then I used them the two or three times I played in the next five years. This year I got the bug again. I can still hit them pretty well, but no more than I play, I could probably use a little help.
I would try the MP60's I had the MX23's and actually hit the ball better with the MP60's. They perform great. I have a friend who had the TM TP r7 irons but went back to his MP60's. Great feel and surprising forgiveness. Good Luck
MP-30s. I'm playong devil's advocate here with their "cut-muscle" that everyone seems to be hopping on the bandwagon over. I hit a high ball as it is - with the cut muscle it goes TOO high. Plus, you can get the 30's for cheaper than either of the others. I'm playing the 14's (as per my sig) and I really like the look, feel, and performance of them. If i couldn't quite manage these, however, I wouldn't be looking at the cut-muscles, i'd be looking toward the 690CBs, the MP-30s, or the J33 CBs.
MX-23's if you want forgieness. I don't see any difference between 23 and 25 apart from the 'roadrunner' symbol on the sole of the club.
Agree with Omen though, 32's are all that if you want to be considered a playa

Is the 690 a Titleist club? I have heard good things about those, but they look a little wierd.
Yes the 690 is a Titleist Blade. If your looking for a sweet feeling cavity back the J33 is about the best feeling CB I have ever hit....better than the Mizuno MP-30. If your a Titleist guy the 695 CB is a good bet too.
I've been playing MP-30's (on and off) for a few years. They've been great....man when you pure a 3 or 4 iron, the feeling is unlike that of any other club (brand).
ball flight with the 32's i would say its mid- high with the long irons and a mid trajectory with the scoring irons....
with that said...with any blade (it's a blade) you can cotrol your trajectory....if i want to hit a high soft 8 iron all i do is move it forward one ball from center and voila, high ball...and one ball back, voila a topped shot...err..i mean a low trajectory...
with these clubs you feel like you are totally in control of the golf ball....and man do they look good....
Mizuno....the Player's club....
nothing against titleist, or anyone elses clubs....but nothing feels like a Mizuno
32's sound good. How is the ball flight? I hit a 67 a few weeks back. I was using a net, but the flight was going to be very high.
The Callaways are great clubs, I just think I would be better with a little different look.
Like Omen said, for normal shots I have a pretty high trajectory, but that's nothing new with me, I've always hit the ball high. As he said, I think they are very easy to control though, if I need to hit one low, I don't usually have a problem doing so. I think it has to do with your swing more than the club though. If you hit the 32's high, chances are you'll hit any other iron high as well (unless the other irons have really stiff shafts...that might bring your flight down a little).
The Mizuno's do have I think 2 degrees of extra loft per club then say a Titleist iron though, so maybe that's where the extra height came from.
