Help me out?

I'm gonna buy a driver to tinker around with for about 150 to 175 dollars. I need opinions on what I should buy. Right now I'm thinking x speed, r5, launcher comp, BB454, or maybe a mizuno. Give me some opinions. I want something with a big sweet spot, a hot face and some forgiveness. This will be the backup to my ft3 tour unless it can beat it out. thanks

Tinker around? Hmmmm....

With your stated parameters, perhaps a Titleist 905R would suit you. eBay?
Quote:
• A pear-shaped, 460cc titanium driver with a shallow face for players seeking the ultimate combination of ball speed, launch angle, spin and forgiveness
• The 905R has a 35% larger sweet spot than the 905T and 905S
• Designed to produce high launch, low spin and maximum ball velocity for long, straight driver distance
Personally, I'm not comfortable with the 460cc heads. I wonder what's coming. 550cc? 750cc? 1,000cc? Where it ends is anyone's guess.

I play a 350cc driver, but have been recently seen on the course with refinished/rewhipped Hogan woods (70's) with Crossline grips.

Anybody else? Yea Bill I just kinda want a new toy to tinker with. 905r I've actually thought about but most of the nice ones I've seen are still $200.

I have no suggestions but I have a question: I am dying to find out what you mean by tinkering around with the new driver! Are you going to experiment with club design? Are you going to drill holes in it? Bend it closed 5 degrees? Fill the head with extra weight? Run it over with your car for a nice HiBore effect? If you are going to do some interesting modifications, please keep us posted!
