Mizuno's for a noob?

Quick question for everyone. Looking at new irons and wedges, the 'Zun's look awesome. Ive had a chance to hit most of the forged models at the local store, and I love how they feel. My hesitation comes at the fact that im a high teens handicapper (estimated, I know I know, Im getting my card this spring), I generally shoot in the high 80's. Long story short, the forged irons have a minimal offset, so how hard is it to go from a game improvement iron, with a lot off offset with no feedback to an iron that lets you know whats going on? My current irons are ****, but they were cheap when I came back to the game, soo.... Any and all advice is welcome!

I'm up mostly on components, but I believe Mizzy's offer a few models that are game improvement type irons that are forged. I believe one is the MX-23s? Anyways, offset isn't a huge game improvement entity, more of a personal preference. Blade size and weight distribution play much larger roles. I guess it depends on which models of Mizuno's you were looking at. Many of the Mp models are less forgiving and usually catch the eye of better ball strikers. The MX series, which I think are still mostly forged, are game improvement type irons well within the range of mid to high 80 shooters. Just my opinion

my advice is going to be different than most but i speak from personal exp. Get em. Get the 30's or the 32's or one of their cut muscle designs. for many reasons. I got my mp 30s when i was a 12-15 handicapper. They made me get better. they forced me to get serious about my game. Im now scratch. Took a while but i 100% believe the 30's were part of the equation. another thing, the forged clubs are unlike any you will ever hit, trust me on that one, ive hit alot of clubs and i still swing the mizuno's. yet another thing.... they will last you a long, long time. im going on 4 years with 4-5 times a week every week.. (florida golf baby!!!) good luck brotha i promise you cant go wrong with mizunos.

That was my next question actually,, how long will forged irons last? Do the grooves wear out? That may be paranoia, but when you drop the money, you want 'em to last right?

you will be fine. you see how often i play and have played for the last few years. you'll be good to go. you will not regret your choice. ive turned 4 people onto mizuno. various models, from the 23's to the 32's. all rave about them and say they will never switch.

That is what I expected, but I wanted to make sure. My next question is where to get the best buy on 'em. I can get them fitted once I buy them, so where is the best buy. Online, like TGW, Mizuno directly, or Ebay? Any suggestions?

I feel the iron is personal choice. I hit game improvement irons pretty poor but a blade I hit well which is why I am using the nike pro combos with great success. My scores are pretty similar to that of yours. So I feel go with what you feel confident in and hit well and dont worry about being made for low handicappers.

I found my MX 23s at a local family owned shop for $499, which was $100-$200 less than anywhere else at the time. Looks like you can get about the same deal on ebay right now. But you might want to talk to your fitter first so you don't end up with the wrong shafts.

my Mizuno mx 23's were my first set. (been playing 4 months now). I have no regrets whatsoever.
I got them brand new off eBay for 350 shipped. prices have probably gone down with the release of the mx25's.

So, in looking on Ebay for a set of mp-60's I came across the mp-30's. Are the 60's that much better? What other models are similar to the 60's? The 30's are quite a bit less, but I dont mind if they're worth it. Thanks.

I say get a set that you enjoy playing wether it be oversized irons or blades. If you want to get better I would get some irons made for better players so you have to learn how to hit em. If you just want to have fun and cover up your mistakes then go game improvement. When I went to forged players irons is when I started to really study my swing and become a golfer instead of just going out to have fun and hit some balls. Just get something that fits what you want to do. The mp 30 will do fine. You could also get a cheap set of mp 33's and see how you like em and then decide if you want to spend more money.

the 30's are a fine set of irons. I find the 30's hit the ball lower and seem
a half club longer.
I believe the 60's are bit more forgiving , both feel very sweet .
both are good choices , I have notice the used 60's are selling for a decent price now on ebay.Just bought a set myself.
