stand bags

I always wonder about "what is the proper club arrangement for any standard stand bag?"....is the woods supposed to be in the fartherst compartments from the stands?...like a cart bag....

Yep, just like the old 3 compartment carry bags.

Top - (Nearest the strap) Woods
Middle - Long irons
Bottom - Short irons, putter

Note, Depending on preference, putter can ride with the woods, if desired.

Thats how my bag is set up. Woods and putter are in the same compartment. Thats just what works for me. And then irons down to wedges.

I have the Ping Hoofer Extreme Stand bag and have the woods farthest from the stand and then two clubs per hole from there on down. I have to have the same two clubs in the same two holes. I have OCD with this stuff. If my irons get put in the wrong hole in the golf bag it really bothers me. lol.

Golf bags with the woods closest to the stand bothers me too.

I arranged my stand bag like that also, woods up top, long irons in the middle, short irons/wedges on the bottom. Santa just brought me a Cart bag though with 14 way dividers so everything has its own place now without all my clubs getting tangled up.

Does anyone know who makes a stand bag with a single strap?

Off the top of my head I can't think of any company that does that now. It will probably be hard to find one unless you could snag a little older model off of ebay.

I used a pocket knife on mine to create a "single strap".

in my stand bag, i have the woods in the back, my irons in the middle, my wedges in the front, and the putter in the outer putter well. this sets up so if im in a cart, i have the pocket facing me with my balls and tees in it.

Would this work on your existing bag?

Can't think of one, but my Ogio bag works very well using one or both straps.

I have a Nike Sunday stand bag that only has one strap. It's the smallest stand bag I have seen and is super light. I saw a stand bag on TV the other night that looked much like the modern ones with the same basic two leg popout setup. This one was made in 1890. Just goes to show you that some of the things we use today have been around for quite a while. I guess a good idea never really dies, it just gets rediscovered and refined.

The stand bag that I just retired only has one strap. It was a full set of Jack Nicklaus clubs that came with the bag (Costco set) and only has one strap.
