Refurbed R7`s On Ebay

Are the Refurbs worth the chance if you can get em dirt cheap? Tons on R7 drivers going cheap on EBAY. Anything to watch out for?

A lot of fakes are being sold, by hijacked accounts. Or so I've heard/read anyway.

man, they're flooding the market. a good way to tell if the seller is on the up and up, is to look at their feedback and what the buyer says and also if they have crazy instructions. i have a Taylormade R510 TP in mint condition with a Fuji. 757 Speeder(with headcover) coming next week. paid $157 including shipping. At one time, this was a $800 or better driver..

If you want the headcover, make sure they tell you whether it comes with the club or not.

First, what do you consider "Dirt Cheap" ? New or used?

I admit not being fluent in the movable weight feature, but a cursory look clearly discovered that such weights are seemingly NOT included, ie: GLOBALGOLF. Don't know if this would pose a problem.

Regarding eBay, Caveat Emptor.

I think the weights WILL be included, but the wrench (small 'torx' driver preset with torque setting) won't be included. The wrench allows users to fool around with the distribution of the four weights to get the best performance for the users, using the (probably also not supplied) chart detailing what the weights do in which position.

I am also looking for a new R7 to replace my 'outlawed' driver, and have been scanning eBay for the best deals on the 425 (460 doesn't look right to my eye). Some of the sellers are pretty well established here in the UK (pro-shops, recognized golf shops, etc) but others are obviously offering fakes. I personally wouldn't buy a refurb driver off eBay, but I'd buy new.

Also, some of the R7's being offered may be the versions that will be illegal (for use in competitions) from Jan 2008. It could also be that TaylorMade are bringing out the R9 early(rumour has it) so the R7's are being dumped on the market now by the retailers.

My last (current) R7 was a demo club at my local driving range when I bought it.

i had one of the first models that came out but really didn't care for it. the newer models that i've tried seem to be much better. i like heads around 400cc's better.

the R510TP just came tonight and was able to hit one ball out of my yard, what a sweet driver this is. i'll post more on it tomorrow.

Nice driver, well balanced, feels solid, and quiet sounding. did i hit it any farther or straighter? when i was swinging the club well, yes. doesn't really matter what club you have when you put a bad swing on the ball.
