Right now I am a sophmore in high school and I just turned 15. Believe it or not I didn't make the golf team this past year because right before tryouts my swing went through a horrible phase that I don't even know what happened. I am a seven handicap right now and it's dropping fast. I take lessons with a local PGA Professional and I play 2-3 times a week (Talk about draining your wallet). Currently I do not have a job but am working on it. I have a dream to become a PGA Tour player and winner. Please give me your opinions on if this is possible (even though I believe I can do a,lmost anything if I put my mind to it).
Now to the second thing:
The second thing now is giving me a hard time. With all of my money spent on actually playing golf and the lessons I have nothing for new clubs! I was wondering how much do clubs actually effect your game? This is a huge problem for me because I am a golf club finatic and would go to GolfSmith and hit there for 5 hours every weekend just trying clubs. This is my dream set:
Driver: TaylorMade r7 460 $300
Woods: TaylorMade r7 Ti or TP $350/$400
Irons: Titleist 695MB $850
Wedges: Titleist Vokey 200 $110
Putter: Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Style (Even though I have a good putter now) $300
Golf Bag: Anything but what I have now
Ball: Titleist Pro V1
As you can see that is an expensive set. It would take me a year to earn all of that with a job and that's too long. My irons are extremely old and the grooves are worn. When I hit them solid it feels like I hit the ball with a brick. My driver you could pick up for $10 and my one wedge has no spin what so ever and my 3 wood is chipped and was only $10 also. I take good care of my clubs. I would just like to know how much clubs affect your game and if anyone has ideas to help me out to fulfill my dream (I have had some people tell me it is impossible but I didn't believe them because they never saw me golf).
Please help with your opinions and what to do about a new golf set.
-Thanks

work at a course and play for free and practice for free, and get golf equipment through them.....all problems solved
Not really lol. I get a job their starting April and I will be able to golf for free but...the clubs are still going to be a problem to get seeing as they don't carry many clubs.

doesnt matter if they carry them, you can call the company direct and get them for wholesale or maybe cheaper if your course is cool they can get them for "personal use discount" and save a ton of money....
They will only let me go on outings I don't get anything but pay and free golf and that would still take over a year to get the clubs because they don't go on that many outings.

HUH? outings? they dont have a pro shop? im so lost
Alright let me explain better. The course will not let me work the register because you have to older according to them. They go out on outings and kids come with to caddy for them. They are hiring me to do that and they will pay me each time I go out along with free golf. They don't really have a pro shop. They have a room that is the size of a small bathroom with a few clubs. Nothing special nothing decent either.

Ohh thats no good...well are their no other courses around that need cart guys?
No one else will hire at 15 at all the other courses here in Ohio you have to be 18. Any other ideas on what to do about clubs? Will cheaper ones be just as good?

Well they can be...but I would get some good pre owned stuff, and try to get them to be fit for you....
I started to work in restaurants when I was 15, pulling full 8hr shifts and getting adult pay...usually around 20 hr a week and during the summer was f/t...made tons of money this way (and unknowingly trained for my future)...wasn't much time for sports though...work the course, play the old clubs, buy what you can used as cheap as you can, and enjoy being a kid...you will have the rest of your life to work, and there will always be things that you covet but are just out of your financial reach...
So if I was to get something like Snake Eyes 600B Irons custom fitted with golf pride tour velvet grips, TT dyanamic gold shafts, at GolfSmith for $400 I wouldn't see that much of a difference between the Titleist and them? The grips/shafts would be the same just the heads would be different. I might be able to pull off the nike sasquatch cause it went on sale at tgw.com for $200. And for the 3/5 wood i could get a cleveland launcher. the wedges i could get would be either ben hogan colonial or taylormade rac satin (old ones). i could just keep the putter i have now also. Would that be a good set and would It compare to the ones i have on my "Dream List"? Thanks for the help guys I know that that was a lot of typing to read.
