Another infamous new irons thread...

Hey everyone. I've been reading up alot on a set of new irons from every manufacturer known to man. I work 70 hour weeks so I haven't been able to get to Golfsmith to hit anything yet, but here's my situation. I have been playing Callaway X-14's since they came out. Bought them new 1 week after they were released. I hit them fairly well but I would like something with a little bit more feel. The Cally's feel the same on a flush shot or a mishit which is what I don't like. I bought a set of Mizuno mp-30's last year and played 7 rounds with them along with countless balls on the range but I just couldn't find the sweet spot consistently so I am putting up my guard against Mizuno for now. I am a descent ball striker, a 9 handicap with average distance, but I depend on my accuracy and short game for my scores. I have been reading alot about the Cleveland CG4's as well as the Nike Slingshots. I would like to stick with a cavity back as I do not have the time to play 3 or 4 times a week so a set of blades is out of the question. I see both sets have received descent reviews and any other sets similar to these you have experience with would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

Its hard to find a club with great feel that will let you know when you miss the sweet spot unless you want some forged CB's which you already have tried in the mp30's. Hmmm........For just good all around irons try the r7's, mx 25's, and Nike pro combo OS. My two favorite game improvement clubs though are the Macgregor m565's and the cg4's.

2 votes for the Pro Combo. If I ever get time again to hit some clubs I will look into those. Thanks for the fast response.

If you want em to be a little easier to hit but feel good try the forged pro combo OS and not the pro combo tour. With the tour they are more blade like.

ive tried every iron possible ok...all greatest sticks all of them. name an iron i have hit it.ping all models, titleist all models, callaway, cleveland, mizuno, srixon, macgregor, even browning and the very best iron i have ever hit is the ben hogan edge cft...tite little draw with a nice clicking sound. they are offset and have all the chacharterstics of game improvement iron. i shoot mid high 70s from the tips with these. great irons please give them a try...u can get them for a decent price on ebay...nobody knows about these really...but once you hit them your scores will drop.

You are right, I forgot about the good ole Hogans. I've always liked the way they felt.

from what i hear the R7 TP's are money. NikeRep has been talking up the Nike CCI forged irons that are coming out next month... might wanna wait to hit those too. CG4's have really good feel for a cast club.
