Question callaway vs. taylormade irons

Looking at moving to callawayx16 or x18 . . or taylormade rac os. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.
Currently swinging Hogan apex edges.

1. Callaway X-18 Best but the most pricey
2. TaylorMade rac OS2 Extremely soft feeling
3. Callaway X-16 Have never hit these but they are an old model

The X-18s replaced the X-16s in their lineup. As a matter of fact, they are being replaced by the new X-20s themselves.

I just bought a set of the X-16s last month, after hitting some from my friends set. They are a great deal if you get them at the right price because they are two years old now and many stores are blowing them out. I decided against the X-18s as I read more than a few reviews where people were liking the older X-16s better, and the price was substancially less to boot.

The Taylormades are last year's model as well, and many people like them. I've never played with them personally. They, like the Calloways have a bit of offset, which you may or may not like. If this shape and style of club is what you are looking for, you probably will be pleased with any of the models you list.

Find a driving range (not a golf store simulator) that will let you tape up a 6 iron of each brand and try them out. See how they feel in your hands and your swing. Better yet, see a reputible pro who can fit you with the proper equipment for your indivindual needs including the proper lie for your setup. It's OK for food, clothing and shelter, but I can't imagine buying golf clubs "off the rack".

As you can see below, I am a fan of the Callaway X-18s.

both are not that great. callaway irons are too clunky and taylormades irons either seem too big and bulky or it feels like there is no head on the shaft.

go with

I still own a set of TM LT's and consider them a good club. I have hit the OS version and if you need to hit it higher, the OS would help you do that. You might want to demo last years X-Tour irons by Callaway. Got to hit them yesterday at Golfest in Orlando and really liked them. The new X-20 are supposed to replace the X-Tours but several of the pros are still using the X-Tours including Phil. (That was according to the Callaway reps onsite and is really not a good reason to buy a club). The x-tours felt much better to me than the newer version. I have heard good things about the X-18's but did not try them out at the demo day.

If Golfest is coming to a city near you, I would highly recommend you check it out.

If you want a taylor made Game Improvement iron get the R7's, they are awesome. If you can handle em get the tp version. These two almost feel like a forged iron. Anybody that says they don't like taylor made irons most likely have not tried these two.

I can vouch for the R7 irons. I just got them last week and took them to the range on saturday and they are great feeling clubs. Definitely go get fitted though if you can, those online fittings that golfsmith and other places have aren't that accurate, IMO.

I liked how the Slingshots hit, but were just too bulky for my liking when staring down at them.

I recommend you buy my rac OS2's! :D

The rac's are good irons that get the ball up easily. Go hit them and see for yourself.
