I'm not sure where to put this question...

So mods...if you feel the need to move that's fine.

Does anyone here have a Cleveland 56 degree wedge? The new ones that are like, see here comes the stupidity in a golf mom that doesn't have a clue, that are like black on the part that you hit the ball with? What is that called? And no that's not the question. LOL

My son received this club from his Grandfather, new, as a Christmas present. Kid asked for this club. Anyway...my son mentioned that the black paint on the bottom of the club is coming off. It's almost has chrome looking appearance. Is this normal?

Let me see if I can find a link to the club....

Ok, that looks like the club but his has 3 red dots on it....whatever that means.

That finish will come off during normal use. Perfectly normal. I have a titleist wedge with a similar finish, and I freaked a bit when it started to get shiney, but not to worry.

Not a problem normal for this to happen with this type finish. The company I work for uses a similar process to coat steel machine parts called "Tool Black" dyes the raw metal almost a black color……during normal wear the blacking will rub through to raw metal. It will rust if not used often but that should not be a problem either

As everyone here already stated, yes it is normal with playing alot of golf. The main purpose of the black finish is to eliminate glare. Most of the older wedges were chrome(ie Vokey 200 series) that would produce a devilish shine in your eyes. The new finish prevents this.

His old one is a Vokey which his father now loves. I guess I was just surprised at the loss of the black paint after a month. Kid thinks it looks cool, so if it's normal for this club, I have no problem with it.

Oh and to edit this...yes he plays 6 days a week.

It is made to come off. It will rust into a nice finish.....and rust on a wedge is a good thing.

But too much rust is not.

You can soak the club in Coke to remove the rust if it builds up to the point where it's dulling the grooves.
