hi, i don't get to play as often as i used to (two great young kids) and my game has got worse. i'm just wondering if i should change my irons from mizuno mx23 to mx900. it seems when i do get to play i don't enjoy the game as much because my iron shots are all over the place. would the mx900's be more forgiving and give me some more enjoyment back. or should i stick with the 23's. i did try the mx900 6 iron, but i was hitting it ten yards shorter on the range although i was hitting i was more accurate and hitting with a slight fade. with my 23's i was pulling/hooking nearly all my shots your advice would be appreciated.
thanks
take a look at the MX-17 (or MX-19). would be more forgiving than your current set and you can find the MX-17 pretty cheap these days. I'm planning to buy the MX-17 or MX-19 for the 07 season
Take your set in to a dealer and swing a fitting session. The two models are both very forgiving. If you only play occasionally dropping the $$ on the 900's seems a lot to my frugal mind.
I had my set fit and it made a great difference. I also found my setup was goofy because I was adjusting for the standard lie.

hi, i had the 17's before the 23's. they were very nice quality, but i prefer a forged club for the feedback i get, and if my swing changes i can get them adjusted. they were fitted.
thank you for your replies

I don't personally think that the 900s will improve pulling and hooking. Lessons would serve you better to improve your swing mechanics.
The 900s are easier to hit and set up like hybrids.
I wouldn't believe the shorter distance on the range. Try hitting it with the ball you normally use.
I would stick to the 23's vs. going to the 17's..The 23's heads are much better material than the 17's..I haven't hit 900's but i did hit a buddies Nike Slingshots..pretty forgiving and has the look of a iron hybrid...
hi, if you are still interested the mx23's are for sale. they are standard length-2 degrees up with avon d2x multi-compound grips (half cord) condition 8 out of 10. 3-pw+fli hi clk 20 and 23 degree. 3+4 iron hardly used. the 7 iron has 2 nicks on the toe, but not on the grooved area.
£280 the lot.
