Please help with buying decision.

I am currently living in Asia and want to purchase some new clubs. They are very expensive here so I will probably buy them on the internet.
Any ways, I need some suggestions on irons and a driver. I am not sure if I want to buy irons but I definitely will buy a driver.

Price range:
Irons: $900
Driver: $300

Thanks for the help.

Is there any store or pro-shop where you can try out some clubs without having to buy them? I would try out the clubs you are interested in and then look for them on the internet (ebay etc.). I always go to the pro-shop and demo the clubs and then look for the best deal on e-bay. There is no reason in the age of the internet to pay full retail for golf clubs.

That's what I plan to do today. Go check out a pro-shop and hit some balls. I'm just looking for a direction.

Thanks

Ok...what's your handicap? How long have you been playing? How do you normally hit the ball (slice, hook)? Are you male or female? Answer these questions and we can probably give you a few ideas to get started.

Well, I just came back from a few golf shops and they have many nice clubs. However, there aren't many left handed people in Taiwan so they didn't have left handed clubs to demo. I went to three shops and nothing.
That's why I need your advice. What should I get. I trust you all.

Hmm I was looking at the Mizuno drivers, specifically the Mx-17.
And is this the r7 you are referring to? http://www.golfsmith.com/products/TM7425#
Thanks

there's no reason you can't get one used

I don't want used. I've been playing for a long time and am not a starter. Even if I wanted to get used ones, they would be hard to find here because there are so few left handed players in the part of the world that I live.

I really want this set to be a great set of clubs that will last me a while.

I'm torn between the mx-17 and the mx-19. There is a big price difference ($299 for the 17s @ rockbottom and $549 for the 19s @ elsewhere - rockbottomgolf doesn't have the mx-19s).

My driver, I think I want the TaylorMade r7 quad.

I like rockbottomgolf as they seem to have the best prices.

And regarding fitting, I am feeling really frustrated because of where I live. My friend went to a golf shop and asked about custom fitting and they said they don't do that in this country. And when buying clubs and getting fit there are so many things to consider especially regarding the shaft. It's very confusing for me without being able to walk into a golf shop and talking to someone about it.

What do you all think?
