Rule of thumb...

Ive heard that the rule here is...

Callaway is more forgiving for the beginner and Taylormade is more for the better player who likes to work the ball etc.

My experience is...

Go to a Golfsmith (dont know if you have one near you) and demo them with the Launch Analyzer. You'll have loads of fun and much more confidence with the club that you just invested time confirming is best for your swing.

You said Cally or TM, what TM irons are you looking at? What are you looking for in your irons? How well do you play?

I like how you post this, but the only non-TM product in your bag are Mizzy irons!

Whats better. Mercedes or BMW????? You have to find a way to hit both. The ones that work best for you are the better clubs.

I'm not saying this in a smart way but there is not a person here who can recommend what to buy without knowing all about your game and seeing you play.

I have 10 or 12 sets of irons in the basement. Pings, Callaways, Ram, Taylors etc. In good hands they are all A1 clubs. In my hands, well, ah, you know.

As another poster said, get to a good shop with swing analysis.

Have you hit the r7 tp's??? If you haven't....I wouldn't talk. Bought the mizzy's b4 i hit the tp's would still take the mizzy's though. But between the offerings of Callaway irons to TM i would say TM.

Didn't mean that in a rude way, it was just an observation. And, I just went from TM to Mizzy on my irons, but I'm staying with my TM wedges.

Although I haven't hit them, I have heard great things about the tp's. If they're anywhere as nice to hit as the black tp wedges, they're great irons!

The R7 TP's are a really nice and soft iron. My only complaint is they aren't forged!

sorry no offense taken.
TM wedges are great, better than my vokeys IMO. R7 TPs feel forged for a cast iron and have great forgiveness. If only TM would sell the r7 forged to the US now that would be gravy.

Callaway or TM?

Just got the non TP version of the Taylor Made R7 and love them. Hit both TM and X-20 in simulator - it's was a tough call but I liked the less offset of the TM's as well as overall results. Would have loved to been able to play a round with both sets!
