Yet another noobie club question

I'm a college student with a limited budget who wants to start playing golf again, but my current clubs are horrible hand-me-downs from the 1970's. (Seriously, my putter looks like something you get from a putt-putt place and my irons have what looks to have rust on the steel shafts) I have a budget of somewhere around $400 bucks. I saw these at Dick's sporting goods, are these a good deal or should I stay away? I would gladdly take any other suggestions.

I have had several friends in your same situation. Instead of Golden Bears or Ram I would go with a set of Wilson clubs which can be bought for around 250 and then get a bag and putter, for less than 400.

Or go the custom club route. I looked at the prices of http://www.solidrockgolf.com/ and they are really good.

I am just not a fan of the full box of golf. I have seen friends buy linkman, RAm, golden bear and I have seen them all break driver heads off. or Iron head fly off with the club. Just my experiance.

Also from experiance, start off with clubs that are good to learn on and then when you are out of school and a better golfer, buy some nice clubs for yourself.

thats one option that you have. though if you walk into a reputable golf shop, and say you have a budget of 400 for everything, they will show you stuff that will work

like right now, ive spent about 350 and all im missing is a really nice driver. i have a usable driver, but i hate it.

and keep to the sale rack, dont worry about last years equipment, theyre just fine.

and dont be afraid to buy used.

if he does decide to do that, he needs to make sure that he gets the colored dot that is suited for him.

ping clubs are semi-custom fit, each club has a colored dot signifying its specs,

you should go to the ping website and find your dot.

You may want to check a clearance site like, www.rockbottomgolf.com. You can piece together a set of quality OEM clubs there for really low prices.

Integra Fairways 3 and 5 wood (Your choice of Soolong's or Quads) - Custom fit shafts- Your choice of grips
