Trundler design
Hey all i an an Industrial design student at massey university in New Zealand. I am in my final year and im designing in the area of golf club transportation. Plese read my short proposal and post any feed back you may have and any tips. oh and i will be doing a Questionnarie soon so if anyone is interested in filling one out for me let me know.
Golf Club Transportation Proposal
Jamie MacPherson
Golf clubs have been transported many different ways since the invention of the game. With storage becoming an ever-increasing issue in the modern world, having a bulky bag and trundler sometimes isnt the most practical way of transporting clubs. Through my research I will identify product opportunity in this area.
Research question: How can the experience of transporting golf clubs around the golf course be improved with the product still taking up little space when in transit or storage?
Research objectives:
- What is the most common way of transporting clubs around a course and why?
- What are the ergonomic issues involved with golf club transportation?
- How big is the issue of storage? (Both at home and to and from the course).
- What are the secondary uses of golf bags?
- What other products can be used as inspiration for my design?
Methodologies
Questionnaire asking specific questions about their thoughts of what they have and what else is on the market. Also what the most important secondary uses are for their bags/trundlers. Participants of the questionnaire will include players from a number of courses and some golf pros.
Observation I will observe a number of golfers (20-30) interacting with their trundler (or other transportation device) to uncover issues that are not immediately apparent to the user.
Ergonomic issues look into the most common golf related injuries and see what has been done and what can be done to ease the discomfort of these injuries. Also look into the most ergonomic way of pulling/pushing.
Prototypes mock up basic ideas to have a number of willing participants to use and assess for ease of use, ergonomics, compactness etc.
Secondary research look into what has been done before (evaluate) and look into other forms of transporting things such as baby buggies, travel luggage etc.
thank you in advance for you help and feed back
