King Cobra Speed LD F

Well I went to my local Dick's Sporting Goods and spent an hour with the pro testing drivers and walked out with my brand new King Cobra Speed LD F.

I had gone in eyeing the Nike SUMO, then tried out a Callaway, and finally landed my best shots with the Cobra by far. Even my misses were going about as far as I could get with the Nike.

The pro said this is a brand new club from Cobra, and after looking it up I see it only hit retail on March 1st, 2007, so I'm curious if others here have tried it or have it. I can't wait to hit the course this weekend with this baby, and let her rip.

I had originally tried out the M shaft instead of F, however F is rated for up to 150, which is nice because I'm currently in the 140 mark, so it'll give me some breathing room for improvement.

I'm pretty new here so if there is other information anyone would like to hear about, let me know. I hope to get a video of my swing up sometime soon too, I'm eager to learn from others and improve my game as much as possible this season.

Next weekend: fitting for irons (I opted not to tonight after hitting 50 balls for the driver, and the pro said it was a smart idea). Currently eyeing the Cobra FP's to go with the driver, but really want to test out the Callaway X-20's and the Adam's IDEA a2.

I enjoyed reading your post. I was fitted Friday for a new driver at Edwin Watts and spent almost 90 minutes with the fitter and the "vector" monitor. My intention was to get the Cobra LD, either F or M, as I too am on the "bubble" and I liked the price. Turns out the spin rate for me was very high for both drivers, as well as the Ping Rapture, etc. I ended up with the Callaway FT-5, draw bias, 10º, with a YS+6 shaft (I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to get the driver).

While I wasn't 100% consistent with the FT the spin rate was 1000 rpm plus less than any of the other drivers and the trajectory was very good...also got the most club head speed and distance out of the FT when I hit it square.

Golf's a funny game isn't it? I hope you enjoy your new driver!

I'm wearing my Cobra hat as we speak, and I also have the Speed LD F, so I know what youre saying when you love this club, it feels great.
This is just my personal opinion, but I would get the adams. Definitely go with a brand like Callaway, Titleist, etc.

I joined the Cobra Driver group this week also. 10.5 LD F regular. Once I got used to it I started hitting some of the best and most consistent drives I have in a long time. I truly like it. I dumped my Callaway FT-5 at the same time, which I didn't care for too much. I have been playing with 2 drivers lately (in the constant search for the perfect driver), and also dumped my old reliable (most of the time) Ping G5 and replaced that with a Cobra M speed offset 9 stiff. It gets it's audition this AM, and hopefully will work into the wind, and on some other holes. If not, will continue attempting to try every driver on the face of the earth until the right one comes along. My next sequence will probably be: 1) 1 more Cobra set-up, maybe 10.5 M regular, to try to get some draw action 2) Cleveland Hi bore 2007 model- I hear some good things about this, need to try one. Have hit many balls with Nike Sumos, 2 new Taylor drivers including Quad, Titleist, and Ping Rapture- SO far the Cobra is my favorite, so will continue to tweak it should all else fail. We had a demo day, and some people here bought Cobra combos (like 10.5 M with F shaft, etc), so many options. Golf's a great game.

Has anyone been able to find a published review of the Cobra Speed LD yet? I found a paragraph at Golf.com, but besides that not much else.

I have found several reviews, just need to dig in with google searches. Meanwhile today I finally found my perfect driver after interviewing dozens. My Cobra LD M 9 degree offset with Aldila NVS stiff shaft had me in places and with a ballflight I have never seen, I truly like it and am done trying drivers for the time being. I believe the shaft is great for low ball hitters, great kick, light, and absolutely get a little more clubhead speed. These Cobra LD heads are so forgiving. As a habitual driver fader, I was in shock and awe watching numerous straight and several timely draws, which I attribute to the 2 degrees closed face and sl offset of the M series, with the right shaft. We have a 350 yard downhill hole which I drove for the first time ever today. No BS. These clubs are for real, need to take time to dial in the right head/shaft combination. The only negative (not to me) was the sound was not pleasing to many. But the "wows" negated that, first time I have had that since many years ago when the Biggest Big Bertha first came out.
