Well..my r7 still has the stock shaft..and..I do not like the ball flight with the mid kick point..its making me get a way higher launch angle and height on my ball than I would EVER want..Im thinking of either getting my NV 65 or 55 put in it..But im wondering what everyone else thinks..I have both the shafts..so I will only be out of pocket the installment..But I wondered what everyone else thought first..ive always used the NV shafts since BEFORE they came onto market to the public(got one from my course pro)..and I LOVE them..As far as the stiffness and the likeability of them for me..it cant be beat..but..I was just wondering what others thought..your opinion would be gladly appreciated.
EDIT-Both shafts are also cut FOR ME..and im hoping that will help me even MORE.
GG, since all you have to do is pay for the installment what harm would it be to try it?
On the other hand, if you have some money you could ask your pro to put you on a launch monitor and try a variety of shaft options. (Personally, I am curious about the new EPIC, but I don't know if it's just more hype).
In any case, I'd get the NV installed to see what would happen. As to whether the 65 or 55 that would depend on your swing speed, etc. The 65 would weigh 10 grams more. Do you like a lighter or heavier shaft?
If you have a fast swing speed, I'd go with the 65. Don't forget that TM drivers use a .350 shaft (unless it's a TP model) instead of a .335. Of course, that's easily taken care of with a shim, but I'm just not a fan of shimming up a clubhead to make a shaft "fit."
I had an R7 D460 Draw, with the stock shaft in it. Not matter what I did moving ball back or teeing it up lower seem to lower my ball flight much. I just ballooned the heck out of everything. Put a UST V2 in it and everything was better.
Im the same way RE...and..Im going tomorrow to get the shaft installed and hit it and see where that leads me..Also im going to TRY and get on the LM asap!..I know that will help tons...but thanks guys..
Ping- Ive also been wanting to try that shaft..I think when I go Im going to ask about it more..
I dunno about the stock shafts, but the kickpoint in the V2 is still mid, so if you want a dramatically lower trajectory then you should go with one like either of your two NVs...
although I had an NV in my old driver and ballooned the **** out of it, and have a V2 in my HiBore and don't
I personally dont like the V2 shafts..but only thing ive ever had them in was a 5-wood..but im going later today to see what can be done with it..HOPEFULLY they can install it..usualy how long does it take..last time it didnt take long..but i couldnt hit it for a while..Now i hear they have pro-dry solvent or something that drys and is rdy for play in like 2 hours?
They make fast curing epoxy, so you can play the club the same day if you want. Just tell them to use the fast cure epoxy, and it should be fine. As for shafts to use, it all depends on what your current launch anlge is. Truth is, most golfers only think they hit the ball too high with the driver. You need to get on a launch monitor and find out what your launch angle is with the current shaft, and see what a different shaft would do. I'd get on the monitor long before you have a different shaft installed, just in case changing it would make things worse. Be sure to take a sleeve of your normal golf ball with you when you get on the launch monitor, as it can make a big difference in how you hit your driver. Good luck and get back to us when you can.
You may be correct, but if you don't "KNOW" your launch angle, You don't KNOW for a fact you hit it too high. You just think so. You may still be correct, but I'd still recommend you find out for a fact before you get the wrong shaft installed and make things worse.
If you have a fast swing speed, I'd go with the 65.

I agree with lowof83... the 65 will help lower your ball flight but the 55 probably won't be much different in launch then the shaft you currently have in it.
