I just got a new set of Callaway Fusion Wide Sole Irons, 3-SW, and am having difficulty getting used to them. I have a hard time getting under the ball, and have a lot of skulls with a nasty slice at the end. Does anyone have any experience with these clubs? If so, any suggestions or general comments? I'm not a low handicap golfer by any means, but with my old Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear irons I usually didn't have this problem. Thanks!

Hi, i am a 20+handicapper, and found that when i switched to wider sole irons, I had to "stab" downward more at the ball. The wider sole stops the club from digging into the ground. Try this: look at the back of the ball the entire time you take the club up to the backswing, keep looking at it when you start the swing, and try to drive the wide sole into the ground right behind the ball...hope that helps!

Firstly, you don't want to get "under" the ball. That's not a good mentality. With an iron, especially a short iron, you want to hit down into the ball and take a divot. The wide sole helps for when you dig a little too much, so don't be afraid to try to take a divot. The ball with feel much better and fly much farther when hit correctly like this.
