Cobra LD F-Speed?

Is it just me, or does anyone else think this driver sounds like a aluminum bat hitting baseballs, its such a thick sound. I was startled by how **** loud it is.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

I've been demoing that driver for the past couple of weeks now and although it does have a strange sound, (I've gotten used to it by now), I love the way the ball comes off the club head. I've been hitting my drives so straight and long, I'm probably gonna by it. If you can get over the sound, it's a great club....for me anyway.

Cool Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

It is one of the loudest drivers I've hit, but it's also one of the best. It's about the easiest driver I've ever hit in terms of working the ball right to left. Left to right is not a problem for me with most any driver, but right to left isn't real easy. With the LD, I didn't have any problems hitting a nice draw. Might have to get one when the price comes down this fall.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

Isn't it great? Always results in funny looks, and playing partners making comments, then asking where they can get one after watching a few drives and trying it also. I think David Feherty is on to somethng with this. My favorite driver of recent years. It's so easy to hit, I'm toying with the idea of reshafting my 9 degree to 47 inches, and picking up a 12 degree and reshafting to 44 inches, use the shortee for tight holes and doglegs, other for big shots. Has revolutionized my game. Initially my game suffered as I was not used to being in the fairway and so far, it put pressure on my iron game not to screw up from perfect positions time after time.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

I've demoed the 10.5* and the 12* - I prefer the 10.5* and I've made arrangements to buy the demo club itself for about half the selling price.....and so far, I'm the only one who's demoed it....can't wait to have it in my bag for good.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

Purchased one back in May after I tested out a good selection of them at Dick's with the pro. Went in with the intent of buying the new Nike Sumo line, and didn't even know about the Cobra since it came out after The Hot List was put together, but the pro told me to test it out and it was giving me the best results by far. The sound was something I had to initially get used to, but now it just gives me more confidence hearing it, and intimidates my opponents. Never a bad thing!

Cool Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

If you go to all the OEM sites, a lot of them have a place to sign up for information on up coming Demo Days. I get a email from Cleveland every time a demo day is taking place in my area. Free testing of a buch of clubs, and I get to hit range balls without paying for them. While some will tell you the Cobra is too loud, after hitting another brand that is almost as loud, my quiet driver all seem too Quiet now. It's almost like I hit a bad shot, with all the noise being gone. I know it may seem weird, but you get used to the sound and rather miss it when you hit a different driver.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

does anyone know how this club compares to the previous f-speed? i tried that one (the previous version) the other day and absolutely fell in love with it. so i'm just wondering if the new one is really that much better, or should i save some money and buy the older one. thanks.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

I only hit the new Cobra drivers as that all they have at a demo days event. You should try the new one and see what you like better, nothing else really matter. I tried the speed driver and the LD drivers. Of the two, I liked the LD better, but the speed was a lot quieter. The speed sounds normal, and the LD is real loud. Try both, and then you can pick.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

If you hit the ball 30 yards longer and in the short grass, you'll get used to the sound. I sure would.

Re: Cobra LD F-Speed?

Was at the range last week and I kept hearing this driver go "Duoink". Kinda got my curiosity up, so I watched to see who was hitting it. Ended up the guy was right in front of where I was parked. When I went to the car I checked it out. It was one of the new Cobras. He was a senior and I figured he was looking for more distance. He seemed to be hitting it okay. The sound didn't seem to bother me, it was just different and that always gets your attention.
