I saw a picture of them and they look in really good condition just like he said. the only thing is i dont know anything about golf clubs and was wondering if this was a good deal?
It depends on what model they are. Cobra is just a manufacturer, and comes with a new model every year or so, so it really depends on how old they are, what model clubs they are. Also, and I hate to say it, but there is a market for fake clubs, if it is a recent set and in good condition, I'd ask for a serial number and call Cobra's customer service to make sure it is a real set and not a forgery.
It seems like golf clubs are like computers...as soon as you get it home its obsolete. I'd try them out first at a local range..if they feel good and you can hit them, they're probably worth it...
The driver and woods are old tech. You will never want to carry the bag around. If you are cart guy I guess it is ok.
The Driver grip was shiny. An older set usualling needs regripping at least $40 if you do it yourself.
You might do better on ebay. The drivers would be hard pressed to go for 20 30 for all three. The irons and the putter are acceptable but will need regripping like I said. For 200 you can get a decent used set of irons on ebay. If you are restarting from a layoff you may want a more modern fogiving set.
If they are "blades" (from your response in post #5), then they are probably inappropriate for someone just getting back into the game. I can't tell from the picture. What you really want is a cavity backed club, because those are going to have the forgiveness you seek. Almost any cavity backed club from the last 10 or 15 years will do. I suggest you look through some of the used club sellers on the internet. I like globalgolf.com. They have some very good iron sets for very good prices. You can always ask the forum about specific sets you see on there to get reactions to them.
i have now found a nice set of top flight irons for $60
here is the ad:
Mens right handed Top Flight HCT Tour Golf irons, pitching wedge and 5 wood. The irons consist of 6, 7, 8, and 9 iron. The 5 wood is 21 degree. I purchased these clubs new this year and have used them for half of the season.
just wondering what you think of these?.. they look alot more forgiving then anything else ive seen yet for sale. here are some pics of them aswell
$60 is probably a good price. I'd still haggle a little, but Top Flight is a division of Callaway, and I don't think that they'd make really junky clubs. They aren't going to be great, but definitely good as a starter set. All you'd really need after that is a putter and a sand wedge. Teeing off with a 5 wood is pretty good when you are getting back into the swing of things.
