HiBore XL vs Nike Sumo

I was looking at the Hibore XL and Nike sumo drivers(regular sumo), and I like both driver. But I think Hibore XL give me a straighter and higher shot. My swing speed is around 114 mph. do you guys think i need a X-stiff shaft? and which one of you like better? any suggestion is welcome.
I try the Fit-on Red on the HiBore and Alidla VS proto 65 on the sumo. both are stiff shaft.

thanks.

The feel of the hibore is just amazing. The design does look weird but just seems to make a lot of sense. I kind of like the fact that its not as big as the 460 cc drivers. I would buy one if I could afford it. Don't really think you need the x-stiff. But I would get fitted at a golfsmith or something, before buying.

Re: HiBore XL vs Nike Sumo

114 MPH is within the recommended swing speed range (RSSR) for X-Stiff in most shafts. The VS Proto 'By You' plays very stiff for its flex, so if you got the SUMO, I would lean towards recommending the Stiff flex in that shaft. Generally, I'd say X-Stiff fits your swing speed.

I'm right in the 115 MPH to 117 MPH range and I prefer X-Stiff. After about 5 or 6 years of analzying data from a launch monitor/simulator and playing 100's of rounds, I can say that X-Stiff A) doesn't produce any less distance than Stiff for my swing speed, B) produces a tighter dispersion on a launch monitor than Stiff, and C) helps control trajectory (prevent balooning) in some shaft models.

That's not to say that you'll necessarily have bad results with a Stiff flex shaft. If your tempo is smooth and your transition from backswing to downswing isn't too abrupt, Stiff would probably work well, too.

Re: HiBore XL vs Nike Sumo

I had a 06 SQ hated it... got a 07 SQ 460 hated it ( i hit nasty duck shots and i thought maybe the diffrent MOI would help but nope...).... got a hi bore xl LOVE IT! I would defiantly recommend it. I have the stiff with the gold fit on shaft and wow i have never hit a driver longer or straighter. Honestly I can hit the hibore 20-30 yards longer that the sumo...
