Looking at PINGS and drooling

I am a ping guy through and through i have been using pings since day one and dont intend to stop. Now its growing close to that special time of year where im thinking about updating to some better sticks in this case PING G10 irons. I just thought id hit the forum and see what my fellow PING users thought about these irons. Let me know.

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

Hey Shooter-

I think the G10's are the best looking clubs around, and I went in to Golfsmith to buy some this year. But once I hit them I didn't like them. I just can't get used to the offset head, similar to the G5's. If that doesn't bother you, then they are great clubs. The I10's were more my style (less offset), but they don't have oversized heads.

I'm a Ping guy too - I ended up buying used I3's.

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

I just started last year but every club in my bag is Ping. I'm more interested in the i10's. i5's go for pretty cheap on ebay. you can find them for $350 3-PW shipped pretty often. $400 will get you a set of i5s easily. If you can hit blades, s59's can be bought for right under $275-$300 shipped. I really like the look and feel of the s58's. I was always curious as to how the new AWT shafts play. I've hit them on the launch monitor but never in play. I've heard alot of good things about the new AWT shafts.

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

If you don't like the offset of the G10's, contact PING and see if they will bend the G10 heads with less offset. They will do just about anything else with clubs and many of the pros have the larger heads custom bent with less offset. I know Ping adjusts loft and lie (and repaints the proper color code) for about $3.50 a club and then re-registers the serial number with the new specs. Just a thought. Good luck.

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

I am very pleased with my Ping G10s. For me they work better than any other iron I've tried. Can't go wrong with Ping.

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

I demoed the ping g10 and I 10's and didn't like either. I went with the I5's and they are a perfect match between the two 10 sets

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

Ping guys usually are Ping guys for life...However they are getting slimmer and slimmer. Ping just hardly changes much from year to year..They are all really hard metal and they look in good shape for years and years..I think they feel just AWFUL....But i know many people swear by them and I have a friend "on tour" who waxes me every round with his "clunky pings" So who am I to say what works!! haha

Re: Looking at PINGS and drooling

Get what you like but i agree with the above posts. The g5's and g10's have to big of a head for me and i think the i5's fit nicely in between the g10's and i10's. If youre a good player and can play a blade the s58's are the sweetest clubs ive hit. Im still kicking myself, my buddy had a set of s58's with rifle project x 6.0 shafts with around 10 rounds on them and i could have bought them for 300-350. Man if i could turn back time LOL.
