Good Driver

What driver is good to reduce or correct my slice? Out of 18 drives I slice about 5 of them. I know some of you will say it's my swing. The problem is my driving only, I don't slice my irons. Offset driver? Would it fix my slice? Which one? Thanks!

Get fitted is what most will tell you.

If you don't get fitted, like myself - why? I don't know. Then you can try a higher lofted driver 11+ degrees, shorten the shaft, get a shaft that is appropriate for your swing speed, lower spin golf balls.

I definitely hit an offset FW better than the non-offset.

Re: Good Driver

Lots of people hit straight irons (or even draws) and slice their driver. The longer club is a little tougher to turn the ball over with and overswinging the big dog leads people to cut across the ball or leave the face open because of the timing issues that overswinging creates. Offset drivers or clubs with closed faces are a crutch. If you really want help hitting the ball straight (in terms of a hardware solution), I'd suggest a draw-biased weight scheme over an offset club or a club with a closed face angle.

Re: Good Driver

Fix the swing then get the club.

A slice indicates a swing problem. If you were just fading the ball right, there could be subtle adjustments. A slice indicates the items the other posters have listed above.

Don't feel bad. I would bet a good percentage of golfers slice the ball off the tee.

I slice, it's all over swing for me, but I did help it some with a Burner Draw Biased Driver. Working on my swing now, that's the hard part.

When I start feeling tired toward the end of 18 holes, I start slicing. If I concentrate on using a stronger grip (2.5 knuckles showing on my left hand at setup) this will eliminate the slice. I do use an offset fairway wood, and I like it lots. Sometimes I use my offset fairway wood on the Tee to get more accurate drives.

Re: Good Driver

First off, I sure hope you're not hitting 18 drives for 18 holes of golf. As for a good driver, I'd recommend a higher loft driver to help control the side spin causing your slice. A draw bias driver might help also. But I'd stay away from an offset driver. If you ever learn to hit the ball straight with a driver, you'd have to get rid of the offset driver, and that would be a waste of money.
