On a Wedge Hunt

Any opinions on the best wedges out there.Vokey, Cleveland etc. I'm playing R7's ,are They any good. 51* and 60*

But first (lol) I've had my wedges about 4 years . I was told that if you use them alot you should consider changing them at least every two years.
The ones I'm playing I've regrooved with a grooving tool. Not sure it's going to work. The grooves are OK but the face is really worn.

OK , now back to the original question.

Re: On a Wedge Hunt

I like the new Cleveland CG14 for the "finesse" wedges(sand and lob). The 50degree Ping iWedge I carry is the club I have the most confidence in out of my entire bag, but I thought the sand and lob lofts of the iWedge were just a little bit too clunky.

I really like the Mizuno Wedges. I just replaced my old Black Ox's with the new version. I just love the weighting of the head. It practically swings itself.

Cleveland wedges are good. I like my Cleveland CG11 lob wedge.

Re: On a Wedge Hunt

51* and 60*, are there any gap distance wise or do you feel there is a need for something in between?
A 54*, 55*, 56* ?
Face finish wear is OK as long as the grooves are still deep; To wear out the grooves on your wedge, you'll have to hit hundreds of golf balls a day for weeks and in to wear the grooves down.
I'd think either it's time to get a new wedge because it'll make you happy, or you need the fill the gap of your current set up.
Wedge is a very personal tool just like a putter, you must like it when you hold it and looking down at it when you address the golf ball, and of course it'll have to perform well for you as you set up for different shot during different situation. Many good wedge out there to go through.
Have fun looking for it

With the R7's I have they come with a 55* SW .
Anyway I just got back from buying a 50* and a 60* Vokey.
I tried both the Cleveland and the Titliest and found I like the weight of the Vokey a liitle better (heavier) so I think I'm all set now.
Now I'm regripping my new R7's that had two rounds at a simulator.

TM iron grips.
