Golf Software

Does anyone use golf tracking software to keep track of their scores? Pocket PC or Desktop?

Score tracking

I track my scores with the on-line score tracking service provided by PGA Tour Partners with my membership. One can simply track scores, or in more detail track fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts, sand saves, etc.

I tracked my scores (and other statistics available on most tracking systems) for a season and used that information to confirm what I already knew....that parts of my game needed more work than others!

IMO If a tracking system helps you identify your weak spots then it's a good thing. I found that when I used the extra time on the range, instead of recording scores and stats, my weak areas began to show improvement.

Personally, I toss all my dated scorecards in a drawer and pull them out in January ( January + Michigan does not = Golf) while I'm watching the start of the PGA Tour season in Hawaii. The notes I scribble on each card before it goes into the drawer help take me back to warm days on the course, and remind me of what I need to work on the most to improve my game for the upcoming year.

Of course, now that there's Golfrewind, the scorecard pile might just end up next to that growing pile of unread golf magazines!

I just found Golfwits (www.golfwits.com). It let's you create a graphical representation of your golf course and then you can place the actual shots to the actual locations on the course. It has a PC, PDA and phone version. It looks quite cool and useful...

I bought Golfwits last night. I am playing this afternoon at a local country club. Golfwits had the map of the course available. I downloaded the map. The software allowed me to print a "ProBook" - an index card sized booklet containing every hole on the course (graphically represented) so I can mark each shot location on the card. I take that home after the round and enter each shot in the software (club and location) and it keeps a running total of my stats for the season.

The download I got also comes with the Palm/Pocket PC software so I can record my shots on the Palm/PocketPC on the course and then synch them with the software when I get home.

It also included MapWits - which will allow me to create the golf courses that they don't currently have available for download so I can recordrounds on those courses as well.

I will let you know how it works out after I record my first round tonight...

i track my scores through the GUI's (Golfing Union of Ireland) website. all members in the GUI have a "swipe card" that has our handicap details, previous scores etc. it also has a unique number, which we enter on their website, along with out password, to see out previous scores! handy!
