From my experience the 3 and 5 woods will give you more distance than the hybrid. I believe the hybrid would match your 7 wood in distance. But if you are happy with your fairway woods, why stick a hybrid in there?
Well, I'm new but I would think the woods would be better. My 5w is 18d. And I'm looking at those very high degree woods that Bang makes. I'm also looking at hybrids but it just makes sense that a larger head would give you more.
It's interesting that each company has different degrees for each club. You have to watch that. One companies 3 wood will be different than another companies 3 wood.

I will admit I get confused with a hybrid and a wood. I do find my 5 and 7 woods outperform the 17* hybrid I have.
My thoughts were to use the 17* in lieu of a 3 wood, but I'm finding this may not be to my advantage. I'm swayed towards a 3 wood.
I seem to hit my 21* hybrid a little more consistently than my 3W and 5W, so I leave the FW woods at home. When I go to the range I take all the clubs and check to see if something has changed with respect to consistency, I think everyone should have both hybrids and FWs. But just keep the ones you hit best in your bag.
I'm going to keep my eyes open for a 7 wood. I'll try anything.
Main thing here is. WHICH do YOU hit the best? Hybrid or wood? I don't care for hybrids due to not hitting them all that well. I hit all 4 of my woods better than any hybrid I've tried, so I carry 3W, 5W, 7W and 9W. Also don't carry any irons over my 6 iron. Don't need them as my Woods cover all the yardage gaps between my 6 iron and my driver.
BUT, that's ME, not YOU. YOU need to see what YOU hit the best and not worry what anyone else does. How far do YOU hit your 17* hybrid and your 5 Wood" Assuming your 5 Wood is an 18* model, don't know if you would see much difference between the two clubs. But if you get a 15* 3 Wood, You Should see a difference in distance, assuming you hit it well. Only way to know for sure is to try all options and carry what fits your needs and skills.
Well, just to update this. I have purchased a used Titleist 3 wood via an auction site.
The 17* hybrid has been put in the closed for now.
Yes, I hit the 5 and 7 woods very well. Thus the purchase of the above 3 wood.
Thanks all.
