My friend gave me this old iron set for practice.. anyone know what kind of iron set is it?? is it for beginner??
i have been using it to practice for few months, my short iron are playing ok, bit slicing on longer iron like 3,4 or 5.
i wish to buy a new iron set for myself, any recommendation. i saw the Callaway X-22, and Taylormade Forged burner.. they more forgiveness given.. but i still have no idea on what should i buy..
They look like a knockoff set. I've had very good results with Ping irons for the last 15 years. The Ping Zings and Ping Zing 2s gave me the accuracy I needed and the expanded sweet spot that perimeter weighted (or cavity back) irons have let me get away with off center shots.
Well. ran the name Rival (found on your photo of the 8 iron) on google and seems it's made by a company named Orlimar (perhaps UK). An article in an undated Golf Today (internet) article states that Callaway is/was suing Orlimar for patent infringement! WOW! Seems ya' got a clone set there. In my book, ain't nothing wrong with that!
Google the name Rival Golf ...or Orlimar Golf see what ya' get! "Orlimar Golf" is all over the place!
See if you can find an older set of Callaway X-16 or X-18 irons. You should be able to pick them up for a real good price being older clubs, and they should be perfect to learn with.
