Re: Nicoll Autograph Clubs
George Nicoll was an early premier clubmaker, founding his company in 1881. He partnered with a Mr. Leven until 1898. The early clubs had Nicol and Leven on the back forming an elipse. After 1998, Nicol's cleekmark was the hand, although several versions of it appear on his clubs. If the clubs are wood shafted, you may have a prize there. A Nicol/Leven club may be worth hundreds to several thousand dollars. Irons with the hand CM are still valuable, but not nearly what the earlier clubs may fetch. For the woods, if they are marked "Indicator," they could bring $100 each and about $500 for a set of driver, brassie and spoon. I don't know anything about the value of steel shafted Nicol clubs.
