I had purchased a Cleveland Launcher 460 Comp with a stock Aldila NV 65 shaft and found that the NV was giving me a very high ball flight. I contacted Christian @ Custom Golf Sales and he recommended the AccuFlex VS 339. I had him replace the NV with the VS 339 and boy what a difference! While I hoped that there would be no comparison between the NV and the VS 339, I needed to know how it would perform against a high-end, well known shaft. As luck would have it I happened to have a TaylorMade R510TP with a Fuji 757 in stiff as my back-up driver.
Up until now, the best driver that I had hit was the R510TP with the Fuji 757. Not anymore! I took the Launcher/VS 339 combo down to the launch monitor and put it through its paces and was pleased with the results. I must admit though that I was expecting better numbers on the launch monitor when I initially hit this combination. It wasn't until I actually played that I really saw what this combination could do.
As luck would have it it was a pretty nice day for March 1st in New Jersey: only 40 degrees with a brisk wind! But I looked at it as a test session, although it was under less that ideal conditions! The opening tee shot was worth the price of admission. The tee ball felt completely different that what I had previously experienced in the launch monitor. It was if I could actulaay feel the ball compress onto the clubface and it simply exploded off.
The kick of this shaft is unbelievable! I only thought that the 757 felt good. I thought that it felt smooth...until I hit the VS 339. What a feeling! Really no comparison.
This "test session" was going better than expected at this point but the real test was about to take place. I've always been a fader of the ball. I have always consistently faded everything. I've really never been able to turn anything over and draw the ball on a consistent basis, not even the 757. Most of my "draws" are just dead straight pushes or I may catch one out on the toe of the club and toe-hook one. It looks good and everyone says "nice shot!" but you know it's not what you really wanted. It was a mis-hit plain and simple. But I digress.
I set up for the (hopefully) first draw of the day, and what come off of the clubface was a work of art (to me anyway). A nice 10 yard draw right down the center of the fairway. "That felt good", I told myself. Cut shots were no problem either. That's my bread and butter. Wrapping this up, I can truly say that this one change, the shaft replacement, will elevate my game just a little bit more. I'm a 1 handicap, but until now I was a 1 handicap without a draw in his bag. Now I have the draw in the bag and just a little more distance as well.
Something that I forgot to mention was the flight of the ball. This shaft allows me to flight the ball on a much lower trajectory than the Fuji 757. It's a nice, boring trajectory that carries just as far, if not just a little further than the 757, but it gives me much more roll. I really have to put a bad swing on it for it to balloon up into the wind. I'm seriously thinking about getting another VS 339 and putting it in the R510TP head. That should be a great combination!

Sorry for being so long-winded. Simp

Thanks for the review, can you tell me where you go to get on a launch monitor? Is it a public facility? I am from CJ also and would love to find out what my launch angle, swing speed, etc.. is but have no idea where to go.

Thanks.
I go down to Mooresville. Down 295 to Route 38. That would be quite a hike for you I believe. Golf Galaxy has a simulator and a minitor. The monitor is what you want...four minutes later... I just looked and you're in luck! There's a new Golf Galaxy opening up today in Paramus! http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...y=US&geodiff=1

Simp,
Thanks for the info, I look forward to getting on their new monitor!!
how does the vs339 compare to the Vizion and the Pro LD WC? How about the Pro LD versus the Vizion? Thanks!

The VS339 is going to have alot more tip stiffness and a lower launch than the ProLD and Vizion. The VS339 is used mainly for aggessive swingers when the ProLD and Vizion are used more for Smooth to slightly quick tempo-ed swingers.
I would say for a smooth swinger that the Vizion has a soft mid and tip as the ProLD is going to be soft but in the tip mainly. The Vizion is flex-able but is very stable in torque for a golfer that likes the kick but doesn't want the ball to leak to the right or pull the left. The ProLD is going to be a shaft thats going to offer a good feel but a quicker return then the Vizion.
I have an Aldila NV-65 regular on my driver right now and I think it is ballooning on me. I previously had a Fujikura stock on an Adams driver and that too was ballooning on me. I thought the NV had a higher kickpoint which would give me a lower trajectory.
I really think that I need to get a shaft suited to me. I've tried different tee heights to no avail. Right now, I think I'm losing a lot of driver distance (barely hitting it out 200 yards total). I hit my 5-iron 160-165 carry, so I figure I should be hitting my driver at least 220.
Do you think that the VS339 would help with my driver trajectory?
