Harrison Shafts

I have recently started playing a Harrison Pro Titanium 2.5 shaft in my Titleist 975J driver. It plays stiffer than the more popular shafts on the market. I love the tighter dispersion pattern this low tourque shaft gives. I'm going to reshaft my back-up driver, a Titleist 905S, with Harrison's newest shaft, the SAGA 65. The Harrison rep says my back-up driver may become #1 when I get this shaft installed. I'll post back in a week or two with my results. If your driver swing speed is over 105 mph, my experience says the more popular shafts on the market are too soft. Harrison has been a pleasant surprise for me. Graphite distance with the accuracy of a steel shaft.

Great...sounds like you're onto a good thing...

Not sure about the popular shafts being too soft comment...shafts come in different flexes and can be tipped on top of that...it's a little like saying that you don't like jeans because you have found them to generally be too tight fitting...

Re: Harrison Shafts

Here are my thoughts on the Saga shaft by Harrison. The shaft doesn't play as stiff as the Harrison Pro Titanium 2.5 shaft that they've discontinued. Too bad, because that is a great shaft! The Saga is stiffer than the Aldila Proto 65 shaft, but if you're swinging over 110 mph with the driver, I wouldn't run out and purchase either the Saga or the Proto. The lag on the Saga shaft is too great for me during the transition from the backswing to the downswing and the kick at the bottom of the swing is a touch too early. The #2 driver will be staying in the bullpen. The 975J with the Pro Titanium 2.5 shaft will remain #1.

Re: Harrison Shafts

Hey Bump, have you ever read any of Tom Wishon's books regarding golf equipment? His book entitled "Finding the Perfect Driver" might be worth a read.
