What are your go to swing thoughts?
Here are a few of mine. Keep in mind I'm a lefty.
Keep left elbow tucked on the backswing. (to avoid flying elbow)
Flex the knees. (helps to stay in balance)
Keep head still on backswing. (to promote a turn vs sway )
Lately I've been thinking about keeping a light grip and my arms loose. I try to feel the weight of the club going back. I try to not fill my head with too many ideas unless I'm working on something specific at the range.
I focus on the front part of the ball and keeping my lower body quiet. Most of the time on miss hits I move my right knee too much and my whole lower body goes with it.
I think about keeping my grip loose and taking the driver straight back and low. With my irons I concentrate on my grip and my tempo, I have a tendency to take the irons back too quick and to the inside.
take the club back on plane, then drop the hands to inside to keep them on plane on the downswing. most times im pretty much just whistling dixie in my head.
To be quit honest, I dont know what a think about when I'm hitting a ball. I think about what kind of shot I'm going to hit before I hit the ball, when while hitting the ball, I don't think I think about anything, just hitting the ball lol

I am kinda the same way! I just take one smooooooooooth practice swing while visualizing the shot, setup, hit. So I guess I emphasize my tempo.
My main swing thought it too keep my backswing short and not take it back too inside which leads to ugly hooks. Also with my driver, I always think about finishing my swing as I have a tendency to hit blocks.
Start the swing: Take it back with my left hand - don't sway.
Top of the swing: Rotate around that left hip - don't slide.
On the way down: Full release.
That's pretty much it for me. Subject to change of course depending on what I'm working on, but from those swing thoughts it should be pretty obvious what my bad habits are :nodsmiley During a casual practice swing(part of my pre-shot) I'll try to get the feel of staying short at the top.
I like to think of relaxing my shoulders and letting my arms hang. I tend to hunch my shoulders when I step up to the ball, which shortens my arms and makes me lean over from the hips more to reach the ball, putting my swing on a steeper plane.
get behind the ball, decide what kind of shot to hit, set-up to the ball to execute that type of shot, be sure to be relaxed before takeaway and have the shot to be hit in the mind. forget about mechanics, do that on the range.
doesn't always work, but you have to believe you can do it.
I stand behind the ball and look at the view, then I take a practice swing, then my set-up, one last look down the fairway and think 'you're gonna die ball' - seems to work
I don't get how you can think about things during your swing, makes me muck it up and besides I'm too focused on just hitting the thing.
