Hooking my drives?

For some reason I started hooking my drives pretty bad about a week ago. I had been driving the ball extremely well for a long time but now I completely lost my confidence. I am having a hard time getting the club in the "toe up position" on my back swing for some reason. I have been opening my stance and the face to compensate for this. My swing path is good so it is not that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best suggestion is to just stay calm and don't start changing a bunch of stuff with your swing, grip, etc. You'll likely screw something else up when you start doing that. It's probably just something simple. If you were hitting it good a while a go and you don't think you change anything about your swing, just stay with it. Take some smooth swings, loosen you grip a little and it will eventually come.

Check out where you're aiming. You might be aiming right of your target and causing you to hook it. Atleast that was the case with me.

As the other two post suggest, stay calm, check your stance and don't change alot.

Because of your statement regarding the "Toe up Position.." you know what to check.

Here are a few things you can add to your check list:

1. Make sure your grip is in a neutral position and that your hands stay put as you take the club away. You may be re-gripping just as you take the club away ( this is a milking or replacing your hands an instant before or as you start the takeaway).

2. Keep your grip tension consistant through out the swing (on scale of 1 to 10, 10 binging the most firm, keep the tension between 2 or 3).

3. At address if your stance, knees, and shoulders are parallel to the target line then work on returing to that positon through impact.

Note:
re-griping can happen at other times in the backswing so to check for this hold two coins, one between your thumb and the grip of the club, and another coin begween the fourfinger and the grip of the the club, of the back hand while you practice at the range. Keeping these coins inplace will help you eliminate any regriping.

I think the best thing to do is actually find out how to hit a draw shot and then compare it to your swing and you should be able to find the problem.

When I draw a shot, on the downswing, I give the club a slight rolling movement and a nice natural draw will occur.

Make sure your set up is correct and alignment might be the cause of your hook.

Thanks for the advice. I am trying to take a few days off and go back at it. I normally hit a draw and my miss is a hook, but not as bad of hook that i have been hitting. I will definetly check alignment and the regripping drill. Once again thanks.
