Sore Fingers

Does anyone know of a remedy or something to make sore fingers and finger joints heal, or stop hurting? I've been practicing a lot, and now it seems like my fingers are constantly sore. Even if I go 4 or 5 days without practice or playing, they are still sore.

I have just 2 questions for you: 1. How old are you? 2. Any history of Arthritis in your family? That's what it sounds like to me -- my problem as well. If that is it, Ibuprofen (Advil) 3 or 4 every 6 hours for 2 or 3 days should knock the inflamation down. Also, the "Rayma Classic Trenzada" bracelet helped me and has helped quite a few other people I know. (EBAY) Hope this helps ----

I am 24, and only a few people in my family have had Arthritis. As for my grip, it is good according to all the pros I have asked. I do have a tendency to tighten up, but I normally notice after a few shots and loosen up again.

I also have the same problem, especially with the middle finger of my right hand (remains swollen three weeks after my first golf outing). It's very hard to get a comfortable grip with a swollen or sore finger (I broke this finger several times as a teenager and I now believe it is arthritic). I will do the Advil thing as mentioned and try hard to loosen my grip - not so easy as I'm concerned about controlling the club on the downswing. Any other tips out there on gripping with sore fingers?

I had a sore ring finger a couple of weeks ago. It was so painful I had to play with Jim Furyk grip ( double overlap ). I had to swing real easy but my length wasn't much shorter and it was very accurate. Only problem was from
a rough, I couldn't control twisting of the club. But if your problem is a middle finger I can't recommend triple overlap. Maybe you can try Ten finger grip.
That was another option I considered even though I didn't try.

You may need some practice before you start your round. I had to start my change from the second swing of the round ( First swing reminded me of the pain ) and it was scary for a while to swing with a brand new never tried grip.

Up until a recent round of lessons I had the same problem. My issue was that even though I have a good grip, I tightened up that grip too much. Loosening that grip and developing a better swing really helped out.

I have sore fingers very often. Recently I started applying tape on 3 fingers before playing a round. It seems to help but the real answer is to simply loosen the grip.

Just an anecdotal experience; I've experimented with the interlocking, overlap, and baseball grip. I don't have really big hands so the overlap didn't work so well. I tried the interlocking for a long time but it tended to make my fingers sore. So now I use the ten fingered or "baseball" grip. For me, it makes it easier to keep a light touch on my grip rather than the Hulk-ish monster grip I'd got into the habit of doing on my downswing with the interlocking. And distance wise, it's worked very well and again, for me, it's just plain more comfortable.
