I was watching my Highlights of the Masters DVD,

and I noticed something that bothered me. I'm not sure if it's just the camera angle, but (esp. on Tiger) the ball looks like it shoots/starts out way right.

Now I understand the idea of hitting a draw, but (if I remember correctly) some of the shots were with low irons, maybe even wedges. I know the greens are quick at Augusta and draws have less spin, so they don't want them to spin back off the greens.

My question is at about what angle to right should the ball start at? Or how far with, say a 7 iron, should the ball go right of the target before it comes back? I have not been able to hit in-to-out yet, but certain things need to make sense to me before I can actually do it.

Also, for those who've seen pros live, how does the ball flight compare to what you see on the tube, in tems of left and right, because it looks like it might be exaggerated on the screen? Thanks everyone.

I think someone answered this in another thread. I always see the same exaggerated ball flight when I watch on tv also. And it's irritating.

Thank you Grneyedblack...the confusion is gone...just kidding, it's where it usually is. Now everything is back to "normal".

I think it's just the camera angle. I've also noticed it with many pros on TV. It looks as if it starts way right. The one time I've watched them live I noticed that what they consider major ball movement left or right is actually very subtle when compared to what us mere mortals slap out there.

I wish the camera angle was back aways so you could see the entire ball flight from the shot to the green. I think we would appreciate the shots the pros hit more that way.

Maybe one of the big TV sponsors will do it sometime...

I'm hoping to go to the American Express since it's in San Francisco so I can see the action up close and personal. I know some camera shots are giving an "unusual" look, but I guess even the "normal, behind the golfer" shot is misleading.

For those who've had lessons with camera(s), does it look the same as on tv, or does it get more accurate? (I'm assuming you can see the initial ball flight.)

Thought I explained it quite well thank you!

To the other part of your question, yes, it does look more "normal" when you're seeing it in person.
I know for me, it was VERY impressive to watch them play.
I sat behind the pin on the 9th hole the first day. Back left location. I'm about 10ft behind it. I know in the crowds I play with, I'm ducking when balls are coming in to a green.
So I was a little gun shy watching these guys in the fairway take aim and then here comes this little ball heading straight for my head. And like "magic" I tell you, they just drop in front of me and spin back to the pin.
I was blown away after watching about 20 of these.
