X-mas present for Golfer

Hi,

Im looking to buy a good x-mas present for a golfer. Im currently looking at something on ebay thats similar too "The Inside Approach". Its not the same unit, its called something else. But I guess they all do the same, its not a complicated device so im guessing one is as good as the other.

Just wanted to know if this thing actually works, and if any of one has/or knows off someone getting something like this off ebay and what they think of it. If you could recommend any other items to buy instead please do, but remember im on a budget here

Thanks!

Can you share with us the amount you can spend, that may help us provide some good options for you. I personally don't believe in the inside approach, but that doesn't mean it's not helping folks out or possibly your friend.

What particularly do you feel they need work on in their game or are you not that familiar with their game?

Training aids are hard to pick as a gift. A easy gift for a golfer to get is golf balls. You can never have too many.

That's a good suggestion Scott...if you know he may like to try a high-end brand, say Nike Platinum or Pro V1's which he wouldn't necessarily spend the money on his own that might be an excellent choice.

Getting a gift certificate at a local golf course is also good (ie: Prepaid green fees).

I find the best thing out of my shop for christmas is gift certificates. I offer a 10% bonus on all gift certificates for christmas. that way the golfer can select what he or she would like as each golfer has different opinions of what they like

DO NOT get them any of those cheesie gifts like: portable ball washers, score clickers, plastic tees, whiffle balls, towel-tee-ball mark kit, cheap balls, or score card holders. I've gotten all of these through the years and never used any of them. Don't give clubs unless you know exactly what club the person wants (make, model, shaft, degree). I enjoy getting nice golf shirts or quality golf balls. My son gave me the best golf related Christmas present I've ever received. He gave me a dozen ProV1x with my name, US Air Force and 1981 - 2003. He put alot of thought into it and it really made my Christmas. Lot of info but I hope it helps.

Very much agree with you Pistol, total wastes of time on them, useless.

Here's a real cool one that won't set you back much, perhaps you could order some for your friends too, very useful as I don't like carrying around the old wet towel to clean the golf ball,

Balls (higher-end ones - not the $10 per dozen ones), golf shirts (if you know the person's size), hats, are all good ideas, probably something you can't go wrong with.

Maybe a one-year subscription to a Golf magazine, too.

I used to subscribe to Golf Magazine for years...and then the Web....now if there's anything you need to find out about the game, it's all on the Web...or here on Golf Rewind...especially since we have League here...

Thanks........I think. I'm not an expert, nor do I claim to be, but I do research rules questions, question other members questionable facts, I stay up-to-date with what's going on in the world of golf, and nobody loves the game any more than I do. All that, coupled with all the great members we have here on GR, is what makes this place such a great place for me to hang out!

It was intended in a good way, of which I see/believe that you accepted it that way...I look out for members struggling to find this or that piece of information and can give them links to good information in which they can sort it out themselves or discuss with us all...

I think rules are an area that most golfers think they have an idea, when in reality if we knew them better, we'd benefit more from them than we would if we didn't know them...and sometimes there are the quirky ones that are downright wrong, but that's how it goes.

Golf balls are always a great choice. Depending on how much your willing to spend, a driving range pass is pretty cool. Especially if it is cold/snowy where you are at, if an indoor driving range is possible that is really cool.
