Swinging hands out across ball,

I used this swing thought today at the range and used video analysis.

I've fought coming over the top for along time and heard about this tip.

The thought is to from the top of your backswing to swing your hands out OVER the ball (in essence to cover the ball with your hands) It felt great, for the first time I was drawing ball.

It was amazing though, I actually went from too steep to too flat on the downswing looking at the video, never knew I could do that

My question though is this just as bad as too steep? I hit the ball well but would hate to form a bad habit if this can lead to worse things.

If you're hitting a draw, how could it be a bad habit?
