OK, this is for all the swing experts. I'd appreciate your analysis of my swing.
Just a few notes. I am about a 10 hdcp and my average score last year was 85. The strongest part of my game is my short game. My biggest problem is finding fairways off the tee and hitting greens in regulation.

I await your critiques. Knock yourselves out guys, I can take it.
What I saw was a pretty solid athletic swing. You have good posture and good balance. I'm guessing you been involved in other sports. If your strength is your short game and you have that swing, I'd be pretty happy. The only knock I see is that there is no pause at the top - then you really seem a tad quick which translated into cutting across the ball- but just a little. Since your an athlete( I'm guessing), it's hard for you to slow things down a bit to a more fluid free-flowing swing. I have the same problem. Pretty solid though.
It looks like you've got a very handsy, inside takeaway with a lot of lifting that gets the club stuck behind you. From there, your body responds in the transition by rerouting the club to the outside, or coming over the top. Your right shoulder goes out and over rather than down and under, as you see with more technically sound swings. That right elbow should return to the area of the right pocket in the downswing, but your position at the top makes that difficult. You roll the clubface open immediately as your first takeaway move, and end up with a flying elbow, a club that's across the line (pointing right) at the top, and a head that dips towards the ball; all trademark moves of the beginning of an OTT move.
Try instead to take the club straight back to start without manipulating the face as the first move back. Start it straight back like you would a 100-foot putt. You want to feel like you're not starting the club too far inside and letting it get caught behind you. Then focus on getting your back to the target at the top of your backswing, with your weight on the inside of your right foot. That should put you in a good position at the top.
You seem very athletic and definitely have a good foundation to work with. I'm not surprised you shoot really well in spite of these flaws.
Noticed the indoor dome... being that Im from So Cal, I was wondering if the price to hit balls there in winter costs more than at an outdoor range in the warmer seasons?
So it would appear that I need to slow my swing down a bit and try for more of a one-piece take-away to eliminate being too handsy. I should also focus on a more complete turn and concentrate on getting my right elbow closer to my right pocket on the downswing.
Good things to work on guys, thanks.
LordEmery, I’ve played team sports since I was a kid (hockey, football and baseball). I finally gave up hockey a couple of years ago and replaced it with karate and yoga.
Etggolf, the winter dome prices are about the same as the summer outdoor ranges. However once the season begins, the dome cuts their prices in half.

BBDunk,
I played most sports thru my younger years : football, basketball, track(I hold a high school record), and I was big in baseball and tennis. After all this, I got into golf. I was still young,20 something, when I first started (it was unpopular in HS). I just hit balls over and over never taking a lesson. So, after all those years of sports and ingraining bad habits(try telling me back then to swing slower) , it's still VERY difficult for me to not want to swing hard. You have probably developed a swing like mine : Too quick, and a little over the top, and too handsy with the right elbow away, even on the backswing. But, I'm sure we both have strong physical abilities that are an asset although they need to be restrained when it come to the golf swing. I just keep thinking slower, smoother, rythym, and extension. It's mental, and that's hard. Even when I feel like I'm starting to get this feeling, the quickness unconsciously creeps it's way back in. Good luck.

You're right. It seems every time I'm in the zone and shooting well, the tempo is definitely slower and smoother.

You've got a really athletic swing and great balance. At the top you're are "across the line" and on the downswing your releasing early as others have mentioned just a little over the top. I also notice you lift your left heel. Which makes me wonder if you kept your left heel on the ground would it shorten your backswing just enough to keep you from comming across the line at the top of backswing? Would you at least be willing to try it? I also think the left heel raising is causing a sway in your backswing. It might even give you a little flatter swing overall and keep you from comming over the top.
Having said all that I think you've got the bascis of pretty good swing. Like most of us a little work would make it even better.

Thanks for the input ce me, I appreciate it. I certainly would be willing to try keeping my left heel down in an effort to shorten the backswing. I'll give it a shot next time at the dome.

you have an armsy and handsy swing which is fine, but the number one thing in golf is never lead with your hands. the hands must be behind the elbow until the last part of the swing.A golf swing should have a little whipping action.when you lead with too much hands ,you have absolutely no whip.
You MUST connect your elbow to your hip,or at least get close to it. I would swing the elbow more to the outside more and slow those hands a little bit.
