A different grip

Tried something a bit different in my golf grip yesterday that made a great improvement in my hitting, I have for a number of years had problems with arthritis in my fingers and especially my thumbs. In a normal grip with the thumbs on top or just off to the side of the grip can cause some pain in the hands. So yesterday I used a grip that Gene Sarazen used and that is the left thumb especially is completely off the grip goes down and under the left hand the right thumb is also somewhat down the side. This seemed to help the stiffness in my hands and wrist, Sarazen used something similar except I think he also flatten one side of the grip which today is illegal. Just thought I would pass along something that seemed to help me with stiff fingers and wrist, would be curious if anyone else out there has tried this when you get to be old geezer and the body starts to break down you try just about anything.

Well you ask for me to let you know how the new grip I am using is working, (Gene Sarazen style) well it is working great for me it has added distance to my drives. I think it allows a better hinging of the wrist especially if you have problems hinging your wrist; it is well worth a try if you are having any problems with your hands or wrist.

I've been playing that way for years. Works great for me, but probably breaks a hundred cardinal rules of correct mechanics!

I agree I was always told to never grip a club in that manner but the thing about it is that it works and works great for me.
