One plane swing position at the top

I have a natural one plane swing that I've worked to refine this year, and getting my left wrist flat at the top (instead of bent) has helped a ton.

Here's my next question in my evolution: should the shaft be pointed straight down the target line at the top with a one-plane swing? I read in Golf Digest recently where Adam Scott said if he gets it "laid off", ie not pointing straight down the line, he starts hitting it crooked.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

it is favorable to have the club pointing down the target line, but not absolutely necassary. there have been some great players in the past and present that were either laid off or more so, crossing the line. the simpler, the better. i seen a video clip of adam scotts swing which they showed him being slightly laid off and it was more of not getting the club high enough over his shoulder. mike
