Starting the downswing
Well this is the one think that i lack in my swing,a proper downswing, what i want to know is when to start it and how,i understand that you must turn your hips,or so i have been told, but it feels impossible to turn your hips when bringing the club down as it will change the path of my swing. Is the idea to kind of push your legs out and keep the club behind your body. Also what should my right and left arm look like taking into account im right-handed.When i practice in front of a mirror my left arm is straight and the right a bit more flexed.
all help appreciated guys , cheers.

yes your left arm should stay straight, but don't let the club lag behind you, you will push and skull all of your mishits, think of it like when you open your hips on the backswing you are clearing them out of the way so you can drop your arms down to come from the inside, and your hips should follow directly after. Try to imagine at impact that the shaft of your club and your right thigh are parallel....
swing (your arms) then turn (your hips) : swing then turn
my only swing thoughts i have...

Well also think about your shoulder position at impact, i recently went thru the same thing you are battling and it still haunts me some.
if your impact is right, i have been taught by my coach that I should have my shoulders slightly closed and my right hand turning over my left at impact(neutral grip)...if you come from the inside it should produce a nice draw....
if you open your shoulders at impact you more than likely will pull the ball left(probably with that little draw lol), and if you do have your shoulders closed, but you dont get your hands through you will get a nice push with a fade lol
If you can get your hands turning over with the closed shoulders, and shaft and right thigh parallel then your flight should be perfect off the tee, though this is very very hard to perfect....but dont think about it all at once, just practice one thing at a time....then once you grooved one aspect throw in another and work on it....
I hope this helps, good luck

I am not a teacher, or even a great golfer by any stretch. But I did catch a good tip on the golf channel Monday night (I forget who the teachers where, they were a husband/wife team). Anyways, the question had to do with hip movement throughout the golf swing. Now without their answer, it is a common term to say "start the downswing with your lower body, not your arms". But feeling when to do that is hard, because you really end up adding alot of torque to your swing, can lead to a lot of other things becoming out of whack. So the tip is this, from address, swing to the top of your swing while lifting your left heal off the ground (if you are right-handed). Then start your downswing by moving your left heal back torwards the ground and moving your hips in at the same tempo. You need to get your right heal up in at contact to follow through, which is where the temp comes in. I wish I could show you the idea, I hope the drill makes sense. The point is to come up with some way to 1) feel when to start the downswing with your hips and 2) have a timing device so you can achieve that feel (left heal up).
