Proper use of hands and wrists

In another thread the proper use of hands and wrists in the golf swing was refered to as the most important factor.
Could someone explain the proper use of the hands and wrists?
I asked twice in the other thread but got no response.

The proper use of the hands is to grasp the shaft allowing the wrists to snap the club in half over one's knee.

Please forgive me but I couldn't resist.

It's a good question from caz...will someone please help him (and me as well)? Thanks.

Actively trying to do things with your hands or wrists during a swing is likely to ruin your swing. Hand/wrist action is something that happens automatically, as a result of the rest of the swing. I recommend that you look for other swing keys, swing thoughts on this board, and that you not worry about hands and wrists. It will only get you into trouble.

I heard that maintaining a flat left wrist after impact is a crucial.

Do a www search for 'golf impact bag'. This training aid encourages proper impact behavior, and should strengthen the wrists/hands considerably. Hitting out of (or 'mowing') the rough is also strength-training.
BTW, I do not recommend such wrist/hand strength-training, because it seems to me that this might encourage injury. Whatever you do, be very careful, aware of hurting yourself.

I have a laundry bag stuffed with old towels...it is the same thing as far as I can tell...some people smack an old tire...some squeeze sand filled balls...there is also a thing that is like a stick with a rope stuck through the middle with a weight hanging from it, the exercise is to wind the rope up and down, raising and lowering the weight by turning it in your hands...

I mentioned this before on another thread , but sometimes you 'll see a pga tour player on TV swinging the club with just the left hand. He'll drop the left hand to the right side , then fan the left wrist to the left side. I dont know if that helps , but i incorporate the same during my swing Works for me.

I read that in one of your other posts! One thing that is good about golf is that you can play it even when you reach the age of 60, 70, and beyond. Don't use it all up before you reach 20!
