three putting woes ! please help !!!!!

hi there i am a 5 handicap golfer who over the last few years has not played much golf and have started to play a little more this season, while my overall game is ok driving, irons etc my putting is aweful.I use a short (33inch) forged blade putter(one that i have used for ages)and putt very similar to p mickleson(but without the results) all of a sudden i cant get the speed right but worse than that im not hitting the ball down my intended line, its driving me insane.
Can anyone give me some info, tips or advice as to what i should try ie new stroke, new putter etc etc.

any help welcomed !
scott.

Your short putter is nice and short (33" as opposed to the standard 35" that is too long for almost everyone), so that is good.
Speed control you just need to practice!
The real problem is very likely the fact that you are going insane over your putting! You need to find a way to stop this, because you will be doomed before your stroke starts! Try practicing at home on the carpet with a very light grip pressure (light to the point where you are afraid you will drop the putter), to get your confidence back. Being tense and good putting don't mix.

I try to work on distance control. For example. I walk 5 steps way from the hole and try to make my putt. then I walk 10 steps away from the cup, try to make my putt, then 15 steps, then 20, sometimes even 25. Once you get the feel for 1 or 2 putting these, mix the order up. Putt from 5, then 20, then 10, then 15, ect. Give it a shot and let us know what you think. Hope it helps!
