Sliding

Well I'm a new member here so this is my first attempt at a post. I have a problem with sliding durring my swing instead of turning. My teacher told me about this in the last lesson I had last year but I could never figure out how to turn and get through the ball without sliding. Do you guys have any advice or drills to stop the sliding and start turning?

Most amateurs either have too much lateral movement, which creates sliding, or don't maximize hip turn, which restricts usage of the hips, thighs and buttocks which are larger muscles and tremendous power sources. Try to put your right hip into your right back pocket when you swing.
Try hitting balls with the backs of your legs up against the back of a chair. Set up a folding chair facing directly away from you so that the top-back portion of the chair touches the backs of your thighs at address. Hit mid-iron shots with the chair in place. You'll be able to evaluate lateral movement in the lower body because you will feel your legs sliding along the back of the chair.

Just hit some balls with a golf ball under the outside of your right foot (assuming you are a right hander) You cannot slide while doing this. It is that simple.

Hey, that's pretty awesome. Great tip - I tend to slide, and I'm gonna give this a try. Thanks
