In prior posts I have mentioned being laid off at the top with a closed face. Here are some things I noticed, any imput here is greatly appreciated.
. Laid off at top
. Closed face
. Lean into the ball right before takeaway
. My hips are too fast in the downswing
. Posture is too slouched over over the ball
Transition at the top is way too fast.
You should show us the grip. It looks like your right hand is strong (you can't see enough knuckles from your view).
- Unbalanced prior to swing.
- Too much wrist action on the takeaway/backswing.
- Not enough shoulder turn on the backswing.
- Club angle too steep at impact: Both heels lift off the ground during impact to compensate for what went wrong before. Only the right heel should be off the ground at impact.
- Looks like you put a pretty decent hit on the ball anyway!
You need some work on the fundamentals (grip, posture, etc.) and you need to work on taking the club back properly (focus on getting a good shoulder turn; don't actively set your wrists, let it happen automaticallly; start the hands along the target line).

alright thanks for your reply, well this is the swing that resulted from all kinds of terrible play over the past 2 years. Two years ago I was a 4 handicap, now im a 12. Only question I have is how do you suggest starting the hands along the target line.

If you are a 4-12 then the most important observation was this:
- Looks like you put a pretty decent hit on the ball anyway!
You must be doing that with some regularity, even though you are unhappy with the state of your game now.
If the 'starting the hands along the target line' had little meaning to you please ignore it: Not all swing keys work for all people! But I will try to clarify it: Take your golf-stance facing a wall, without a club, and simulate a grip by grabbing your left thumb with your right hand fingers. Move up until your righthand thumb is against the wall, and start your backswing. Your right thumb should move against the wall for a while, not go 'inside' immediately. That is basically what I meant.

thank you for clarifying. well im able to shoot halfway decent scores now because of my game from 100 yards and in. without it i dont even want to imagine what id be shooting. Id guess my biggest problem is the closed face at the top, since i have good ball flight up to a 5 iron, then after that I really have trouble getting shots up high enough, especially with the woods.
