Right arm straight on follow-through?

I notice Tiger has his right arm very straight on his follow through like his left arm on the back swing? Is this the perfect way to swing? I think I have a tendancy to let my right arm collapse into me as I follow through. Any thoughts?

Thanks

From looking at pictures, it appears to me that a lot of pros have a tendency to keep their right arm straight for a much longer time than I do. I also tend to go through my swing and once my arms are back at about face height I break my elbows and continue to bring the club back. I have wondered about this for a while, as I am not always happy with my hits and thought that my "arm-breaking" could be a symptom of something wrong in my swing. But I think it's really more likely me not being as flexible as I should be, and I don't imagine it is huge to the swing, but I am interested in other, more experienced, and more knowledgable opinions...

Tiger and many other pros are super flexible, wich enables them to maintain the straight right arm almost to the end of the swing. If you are not flexible you shouldn't worry about it too much (although I do recommend stretching!). Note that it is easier to maintain a straight left arm on the backswing than it is to maintain a straight right arm on the follow-through, simply because the right hand is placed below the left hand on the club (I am talking about a right-handed player here). So if you are struggling to keep your left arm straight on the backswing, it is probablly going to be even harder to maintain extension of the right arm in the followthrough.

The right arm extention is correct but you must also rotate the right palm to the ground by waist high on the follow through. This makes the left arm bend with the left elbow pointed down. Not doing this release is why so many slice and hit the ball thin, not to metion loss of distance.

I don't think it is a flexibility issue as much as just hitting down the line with a good weight shift...

this is only my 2nd year playing, but when i keep my left arm straight in the backswing, and the right arm straight in follow through, i actually have noticed a huge difference in how straight they go and how far they go.

would anyone advise this for all shots up to the putting?

Just remember the club is an extension of the arm. Imagine the swing plane a circle around your body. If the club isnt extended at impact and post impact that penetrating consistent trajectory cannot be achieved. Instead a weak high shot that doesnt carry far will happen if the club is pulled towards the body.
