A little set up help!

Let me first start off that I can usually decipher my own swing issues but I am struggling a little latley.

About two weeks ago I started working with my set up, most notably pressing the club a little forward at address. I have been trying to get the butt end of the shaft pointing more toward my left pocket and less at my belt buckle.

The reason for the move was a very high ball flight and a loss in distance. When I strike the ball good my distance is back, actually a little farther than I am used too. The problem is when I miss it is a hard pull/hook. Anyone have any feedback or advice? The set up has become comfortable so I want to stick with it but need some adjustments!

You said you don't want to change the set-up so I don't know if I can be of any help, really. In a normal set-up, the shaft of the club will appear to lean slightly toward the target with your short irons because the ball is positioned in the center of your stance. With your middle irons, the shaft of the club will lean only very slightly toward the target, or not at all, since the ball is forward of center. With long irons and woods, your hands and the shaft of the club will appear to be in line. As the ball position moves forward, the hands stay in the same place so the lean of the shaft disappears. With a driver, the shaft will actually lean away from the target.

Your arms and shoulders should form a triangle and the elbows should point to the hips.

At address, your hands should hang just forward of your zipper or just off the inside of your left thigh, if you're right handed.
What ball are you hitting and what kind of spin are you getting off the face. It may be that a lower spin rate ball might be a better answer to the problem of too much height. Don't know if this is even remotely helpful.

My swing is at this point solely based on feel so my advice might not help as much as the next guy's. I would try starting the legs/body a little sooner on the downswing or just transfer you weight with a little more "umph". Worth a shot.

i really don't think it's a set up problem, but more of a minor swing problem. take a look at your divots and see where they start. are they slightly behind, where the ball lies, or past the ball. the first two will give you a very high ball flight. see how much of a divot you're taking, it may need to be increased some. just a thought.
