3 Iron Hyrbid

Hello all,
This is my first time here and am looking for some advice. I used to have a hard time getting any kind of distance on my long irons so i tried a hybrid and got a lot better and more consistent results. The only problem is i get NO height off my hit, even when it sounds good. Its going anywhere from 200-240 on the ground and a lot of times grass is stopping it. Is there anything i could change to make this better?

Thanks for the help

Someone once told me that although the shaft is a little longer on the hybrid, play the ball from the same position in your stance as a5i. I did'nt want to believe this, but have to admit, it doe's work.

I will give the exact opposite advice...back in the stance just forward of center like a six iron...

I have to agree with with Bigvivec - play the ball from almost the middle of your stance, not forward b/c the shaft is shorter than your 3 iron shaft, not longer.

Focus on hitting like an iron and driving down on the ball. If you are getting good contact like you say your swing is most likely close to that.

Also, depending on the hybrid the flight will vary. The Nickent I have flies low while the Sonartec has a naturally higher flight. This is taking into account the differences in loft. The lower flight is great when the wind is in your face.

Given the varity of feedback i might just try to move the ball position some and see if i can get better results. Although while at the local golf shop i tried the 3 hybrid and had no prolly getting 220 from it with a lot of height. Although i dont really want to buy a new club if i can get my hybrid to work better

I'd say just position the ball where you start to sweep the grass with your practice swing. But like Bigvivec, for me I hit hybrid with the ball slightly forward from center.
