I have lost my driver...not actually, but I can't hit near where I am aiming to save my life...this just happened in the last two weeks, and incidentally I am swinging my irons better than ever with great tempo, control and power...not looking for any tips (although I did place it in the proper forum just in case someone felt compelled), just wanted to comiserate...for a long time the driver was a strength if not the strength of my game...time to call the pro...
My driver has never been my strength, but I started duck-hooking everything and I saw the local pro and he spotted my problem almost instantly and fixed it. Now I just have to remember to check my posture before I hit and I find I'm much more consistent. I still may not hit the fairway, but I'm not duck-hooking as often.
Isnt golf a frustrating game,i was driving great and straight at weekend with a new driver, but i have been in position before where i thought slice was gone and it came back,i hope this straightness is the real thing this time
Hope you get the driver back to full potential. I've always felt the driver, not the putter, was the most important club in the bag. If you don't hit the fairway with good distance, the game becomes defensive on 14 holes.
Yes, I also used to Hook the Driver. I went to see a pro, and same as texas-Wedge, He spoted the problem within 2 shots. After all that it was my grip!
It could just be a simple thing like that too. I reccommend you to see a Pro. Good Luck
Last week I had one of the best rounds of my life. Finished the round in the mid-60's which I have done before, but only a handful of times in my entire life. Two days later...same course...same clubs...even the same foursome, and I couldn't hit a fairway with my driver to save my life. After the turn I didn't even take it out of my bag. Don't know why this is, but I console myself with the fact that it even happens to the pros.
I'm pretty new to the game but when I started, I had a very strong grip. However, the only club that I could hit consistantly was the driver (275 avg.). I took a lesson with the local pro, reworked my grip and now I hit my irons so much better but I don't feel near as comfortable off the tee. While I'm sure this probably isn't your problem, but I do know the feeling.
I am looking forward to the lesson...when I saw him I was practicing wedges to 100yds, he made one suggestion and I dropped the next 10 within 15 feet...as much as I want to be able to improve on my own, sometimes it takes someone to help...

Sure it does. I always need other peoples help. Well worth it in the end.

Move my hands one inch closer to the ground and "put your chest more down on the ball"...hesitant to share tips as while it worked for me it was only after he watched me for a few swings and saw a solution to something I was doing wrong...but in the end the toe of the wedge was a bit up rather than flush to the turf at setup, made a world of difference in ease of getting down and through smoothly and put more spin on the ball, stopping and drawing back balls that were chasing forward...

Call the Pro , he'll fix you up in one lesson. To many players tend to rely on information from 'others' and all they end up doing is compounding the problem. Go for it .
