Beginner question

I'm about as much as a beginner as you can get, I've been at the range mostly with an 8 and 4 iron. I can hit the 8 decent, and pretty consistent, the 4 not as consistent, and I tried hitting a driver, with terrible results.

I was wondering, do most people set up the same way and swing the same with every club?
I've read with wedges your stance should be more open with the left foot towards the left of the target, (right handed), and the swing isn't as powerful

what is the reason for that? since I'm still learning I want to remain as consistent as possible, and I fear that by opening up my stance for wedges, I might be using an open stance to compensate for pushing the ball right.

Letters - The swing doesn't neccassarily have to change. Opening the stance with a wedge is just for short distance chipping, and is to get a better feel of the ball. Full distance wedges I keep my swing the same.

For the driver.. I don't hit down on the ball as I do with my iron shots you're only supposed to sweep the tee away. Hitting the driver the same as I hit my irons will send the ball straight into the air.
