Hitting a pull out of the heel is a bit difficult and I suggest this might not be what is happening.
Think of it this way, a shank is the ultimate 'out of the heel' shot. However it is indicative of an inside to out path which would imply a push and not a pull.
From what I see, a pull is frequently out of the middle. If you catch it on the toe, the club face will open and you will get a cut shape. If you get it on the heel... well you cant get much closer to missing the ball!
