To cure a slice, all is very simple ...... go to your local PRO and get the correct advice. All of the above may be relevant but you must go back to BASICS and start with the grip and set up. I had the same problem , not to the same extent , but after a review of my set up and the introduction of a STRONGER grip all is now solved. Now I have the best of both aspects and I can hit a fade when required.

Sometimes using more left arm for power in my downswing helps cure my slice.

If you move the front foot back you can also fix a hook. Not the best way to fix a slice or a hook but will help you.

Re: Terrible slice with the driver

Hi,

Here are some tips I was given to help cure my slice.

1. Your clubface could be too open. Check your Aim:

2. If your hands are twisted too far round to the left of the grip, this is a weak grip. When you swing through the ball the club is opening imparting spin, causing slice. Check your Grip:

3. You may have the ball too far forward in your stance, this could cause your shoulders to open.

4. Your whole set up is probably aiming too far left of the target causing your club to make an 'out to in' swing path. Check your set up.

5. You may be standing too far from the ball.

You need to bring the clubface square at impact; a good drill is to takeaway the club and bring it to the point of impact slowly and stop at the ball. Do this several times until you get the 'Feel' that the club is square, when you've got the Feel, you'll hit the ball much better.

Re: Terrible slice with the driver

Interesting to see my thread at the top of this board right now. Haven't been to this site in months. Well, good news, my slice is gone! I fixed it myself, after realizing what I was doing. I mean, I still slice occasionally, but who doesn't. I went golfing on Tuesday and probably hit half of the fairways, with only maybe 2 really bad slices.

Anyway, what I did to fix it has obviously helped my whole game. There was two problems going on, first was an inside-out swing. And second, I was getting my hands way in front of the club which was causing my clubface to be severely open. The inside-out swing was a fairly simple fix, I just swing on a different plane now. The hand problem was a bit harder, but I've got it down now. When I swing I want to make sure I feel my right hand and wrist pushing the club and therefore, rotating my hands so as to properly close the face. Among lots of other little things, it was just lots and lots of practice, but hey, that's golf.

Re: Terrible slice with the driver

^^ that funny because your hands are supposed to be infront of the ball through impact, keeping the lagg you created from your downswing, with pros their hands are like 5 or 6 degrees infront of the club head, which then creates powerrrr.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. I guess a better way of saying what I am doing better now is keeping all the parts of my swing far more syncronized now.
